British photojournalist Hazel Thompson has spent the last decade documenting the lives of girls trafficked into India's thriving sex industry. She spoke to Atish Patel about her experiences.

First off, I hit up the local market on Kossuth Lajos utca. You know, the one with all the fresh veggies and stuff? I’m there, just minding my own business, trying to pick the ripest tomatoes. Suddenly, this old lady starts yelling at me. Like, seriously? I’m just trying to get my groceries! Turns out, I accidentally grabbed the last of her prized tomatoes. Oops. She was ready to throw down. I mean, c’mon, it’s just a tomato! But she was like, “These are my babies!” I had to back off, hands up, like I was in a standoff.
