History and culture

Kawerau was an ancestor of the Ngati Tuwharetoa tribe of this area, a grandson of the great Toi-Kai Rakau, a famous chief who lived in the Bay of Plenty before the AD Maori fleet .

After the race, I’m walkin’ down Kawerau’s main street, and I see this food truck. It’s got the best fish and chips. I’m starvin’, so I grab a massive serving.
